During the past 15 years, I have developed and maintained nearly ten separate websites that provided free guides and free video clips for learning software development. Each website focused on a specific programming language or on a specific platform.
During the past months, the Israeli accessibility law is been abused by Israeli lawyers that choose to chase innocent businesses and sue them for various tiny accessibility violations. The Israeli accessibility law is very vague. Finding such violations has become a way of living for many Israeli lawyers.
Israel excels in bureaucracy. Ask every Israeli businessman. I don’t have an alternative but to close these websites. Providing free resources to assist others with learning programming for free has become too expensive.
The following websites came to their end:
http://www.javabook.co.il
http://www.scalabook.co.il
http://www.umlbook.co.il
http://www.linuxbook.co.il
http://www.pythonbook.co.il
http://www.phpbook.co.il
http://www.javabook.co.il
http://www.htmlbook.co.il
http://www.androidbook.co.il
http://www.csharpbook.co.il
I have just updated their first page to direct my new initiative at https://academy.lifemichael.com/he. This new initiative offers online courses (in Hebrew) for learning various programming languages.
Given the Israeli accessibility law, the use of the courses on this new website will be limited (up to 500 students). According to the Israeli accessibility law, unless this requirement is met, there will be a need to add subtitles to all video clips in all of the courses that the website includes.
