WordPress Jump Start Lecture INFO

On Tuesday November 27th I delivered a practical jump start for websites development using the WordPress open source project. You can find the detailed presentation I was using during the lecture ready for download at http://www.lifemichael.com/presentations/wordpressjumpstart.pdf.

I have just complete to prepare a series of short video clips (in hebrew) you can watch for free and go through the steps explained in class. You can find them at www.phpbook.co.il.

Please note that instead of maintaining your own WordPress installation you can set up a wordpress blog for free at www.wordpress.com. Using their service you will be given the possibility to use a subdomain (e.g. yourname.wordpress.com). It can be a great start for free! You can always (at a later stage) move your content (posts etc) to your own installation with your own domain name.

During the lecture we mentioned the possibility to develop a hybrid mobile application based on a WordPress installation with a theme optimized for touch screens. You can find video clips and code sample that explain how to develop hybrid applications for android at www.androidbook.co.il.

If you want to try installing WordPress on your own PC I recommend installing the required software environment (e.g. Xampp, Zend Server Community Edition or similars). You can find video clips that explain how to do it at www.phpbook.co.il.
